Remember the fun old board games? Nobody plays them anymore. Now it’s all about fancy consoles and high tech video games. But game developers are trying to bring the old board games back with DICE+.
This is a digital version of the traditional die that we used as kids. DICE+ can work with tablets and smart phones. It will add a physical element to your digital board games. There are many features in it that are not present in regular die, like anti-cheating algorithms, Bluetooth connectivity, and LED backlights. This device will be compatible to Symbian, Android, iOS, Linux, and Windows. So basically they haven’t ruled out any platform, but it needs to be tested further.
When is it coming to market? GIC, the developers of DICE+, are looking for software and hardware partners that can help them launch it. The estimated cost of DICE would be around $30 when it begins shipping.
